Mark Watson

Mark joined PowerNet as General Manager Data and Technology in August 2026. In this role, he leads the team responsible for technology, data, digital and cyber security across PowerNet and the networks it manages, so that technology and information support safe, efficient and reliable operations and better decision-making.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in technology, data and business improvement across New Zealand and Australia, working with organisations in both the public and private sectors on digital transformation and enterprise content management. His background spans enterprise architecture, business strategy and organisational change, and he is focused on making technology and data practical and useful for the business.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from the University of Otago. He was born and raised in Invercargill, on a sheep and beef farm on the Awarua Plains.
